These are pictures from a hike around the Platt Park section of Southbury, CT. There are trails around a nature conservation area, and we spent an hour or so hiking through the pine woods.
The steep rocks in the area might be a nice place to practice climbing.
The rocks are not random; there looks to be some extensive array of old walls.
I can’t remember why I found this view interesting.
How did those old Yankee farmers move all those damn rocks around to make these walls?
More stone walls. After a while, you don’t even notice them.
I think this might have been part of a dam; there’s a small stream that runs by it.
The Ents haven’t been taking care of this section lately, so the Boy Scouts have been clearing and marking the trails.
It’s funny to see a bridge with no water, but I suspect that the lack of rain has caused an overflow stream to dry up.
